An opportunity for serious discussion and reflection on the relationship between science and religion, demonstrating that religious people from many faiths understand that evolution is sound science and poses no problems for their faith, and making it clear that those claiming that people must choose between religion and science are creating a false dichotomy.

In observance of Evolution Weekend, North Church Queens will hold a luncheon (a $5 donation is requested), followed by a screening of the National Geographic Documenetary The Human Family Tree: Tracing the Human Journey Through Time. As seen on the National Geographic Channel, the Human Family Tree is an entertaining, engaging and educational 96 minute video set “on the most diverse street in the most diverse city in the most diverse county in the world,” a street in Astoria, Queens.
Join a team from National Geographic’s Genographic Project, and our neighbors in Astoria, as they trace the human journey through time, from our origins in the heart of Africa to the ends of the world.
There will be time for questions and discussion following the presentation of the documentary.
